ANIMINA: A Race Street Pier Sound Walk

Coming October 1st, TM&TM will release the second sound walk in their series of geo-locational iPhone applications for Philadelphia, entitled Animina. Meaning “little soul,” Animina takes the listener from the corner of 2nd and Race Streets to the end of the Race Street Pier and back again. Like it’s title, the walk is a palindrome, functioning in reverse on the walk back from the edge of the water. The app is now available for preview HERE.

Animina was written by Michael Kiley and performed by Michael, Eliza Jones, David Hartley and Chris Ward. Produced and mixed by Brian McTear, engineered by Brian McTear and Matt Schimelfenig at Miner Street Recordings in Philadelphia, PA.

The project is supported by a professional development grant from Pew Cultural Center of Arts & Heritage and is a sponsored project of Painted Bride Art Center, with funding provided by the Wyncote Foundation. Animina is presented in partnership with FringeArts and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation.

Below is a radio edit of some of the material from the sound walk.
