Hey all. It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything, and here’s why. Michael has been super busy with design/composition work, including: touring the show TAKES hey made with his wife’s company, NCDC to New York. Download one of its poppier moments here: Delay Dance

He has also been busy a Live Arts Brewery Fellow, where he has been researching the roles of original choreography and composition, as well as exploring vocal improvisation as composition. In short, he is researching and developing a new performance work for TM&TM, so stay tuned for that. You can follow his research here: LAB

Also, Michael has been awarded a 2012 Independence Foundation Arts Fellowship. This fellowship will be used to develop the biggest project yet for TM&TM. It will be a site specific sound walk/album, or, a collection of songs to listen to while you traverse specific areas in Philadelphia. Michael will use the scenic, sonic and historic elements of each place he selects, and create an aural representation of them. The music will then be delivered to you through an original smartphone application that will use GSP to determine what you hear when, depending on your location within each walk. Check back right here for updates on this project.

So, yes, we’ve been quiet, but we’ve been busy. The fruits of our labor will be yours to share in soon.

Also, we made a film of our performance, As The Eyes of the Seahorse, at the Maas Building last year, and we are about set to release it. It will be available online, and we will most likely hold a public screening of it as well.

As for members of TM&TM, Eliza Jones has been hard at work with her project Buried Beds. They just released alive E.P. and film, called Small Stories, that is really beautiful and exceptionally made. Also look out for her guest appearance with Strand of Oaks for an upcoming Shaking Through from Weathervane Music.

Corey Duncan is currently touring his project Oh! Pears through Europe, and having an insanely great time finding God and pizza, we are sure.

Jebney Lewis has moved on from TM&TM and is currently playing with El Malito, who are, hands down, the funnest band in the universe.

And Joshua Ramey is playing around as The Extravagant Bastard. Dig his piano tunes around town when you can.

More updates soon!

Below is a brand new, half hour long track by TM&TM. Â It was composed of sounds put together for a live installation at Emerald Street Urban Farm last month. Â As you listen, image that all the tracks are divided up into 8 different speakers poking out of massive shocks of fennel and cabbage as the sun slowly sets over you. Â The sounds bounce off the neighboring buildings as you approach and kiss you good night on your walk home, as they fade into the distance created by your footsteps. Â Or just be where you are, be it flying over the Atlantic, at the birthing center, driving North to escape the heat, pining for home, excited to leave it, headed in one direction or another.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to As The Eyes of the Seahorse this past weekend, and helped us sell out all four of our performances. We had an amazing time, and fell so overwhelmed by the terrific feedback we received from you all.

We also wanted to take a moment and recommend the Blindspot Festival which opens this weekend. It is a dance and music festival, showing dance works in the newly renovated Christ Church Neighborhood House in conjunction with organ concerts in Christ Church proper in the heart of Old City. Take a look at the line up here

We think you will agree that this thing looks impressive. Michael from TM&TM wrote all the music for the SubCircle piece, Only Sleeping, which features the song What Will Become Of Me? from the Seahorse record (with him singing lead instead of Eliza). This piece is an incredible fusion of dance and video (which features Geoff Sobelle of Pig Iron and Rainpan 43), and the music is some of Michael’s best writing to date.

Moving Parts is Meg Foley’s company. Meg has been a performer in every single TM&TM show that has featured dance, and is one of this city’s most exciting choreographers. We think you will find her work to be singular, rich, and inspiring.

Also check out Andrew Thiboldeaux (of Pattern is Movement), The Dufala Brothers, Troy Herion, really the whole ting just looks so damn good.
